Welcome to the St Catharines Chamber Music Society. We are a
performance and production company based in St Catharines. Three
local musicians, Gordon Cleland, Karin Di Bella and Jody Wieler felt
the need to create an organization dedicated to presenting the excellent
musicians based in St Catharines and the Niagara Region in performance. Our inaugural concert was held at Ridley College Chapel on June 28,2009 and featured John Butler on piano, Xiaoling Li – violin and Gordon Cleland – cello, Jody Wieler – soprano, and special guest tenor Stephen Bomgardner from Missouri, and it was a great success!
Our first full season followed that first concert in 2009-2010. We had many exciting artists join us – the musicians Andree Simard and George Cleland on viola, Margaret Bardosz – mezzo -soprano, Erika Reiman on piano. We also presented a multi-media concept concert at the NAC directed by Peter Feldman from Stay Theatre with acting by Peter Higginson from ECT and and featuring the visual art of Marinko Jareb. We also appeared at the In the Soil Festival. And our kids programming was a huge hit at the St Catharines Centennial Library during March Break in a presentation of the Musicians of Ochre Pit Cove, a co-production with the Symphonic Storytellers of Newfoundland written and narrated by Marcia O’Neill and with guest artists Josiah and Emma Mullet Koop from Suzuki Niagara.
Our second season is underway now, don’t miss out! We have exciting and eclectic programs, excellent musicians and stellar guest artists for you to enjoy. We hope to see you at all of our events!
